Any way to maintain weapon skin post upgrade?

Hi! I've recently acquired the means to upgrade my True Profane 10 to the next level; however, I really like how the true profane matches with my current outfit. Is it possible to keep the weapon skin, or do I have to upgrade another weapon to true profane and then re-skin my upgraded weapon?

Thanks!
