Better to Format SD card on a PC or in the G3?

So I've had 2 San Disk 128GB cards get corrupted on me in the last 6 months. They died within a day or so. They're corrupted and I can't even format them again on a PC.

My question is: What's the best way to prep the card? should I format the card on a Windows machine first or format on the G3?

Also I'm getting the error that I can't delete off of the card because of "android security". I'm not rooted.
