GIFs Don't Play in (Facebook) Messenger

I'm running the latest CM 12.1 Snapshot on my HTC One M8. Everything runs beautifully besides the fact that GIFs don't play in Messenger and if they do, they have white blocks interfering with it. Now, I did some testing and every Lollipop (5.1.1) based ROM has this issue. But a Marshmallow (6.0.1) ROM like a CM 13 Nightly didn't have this issue... Anyone have an idea of what may be causing this?
