why is pdb.set_trace() crashing whenever it is in an indented section?

This never happened til I reinstalled windows so don`t know what is causing it.

I dont know how to get around it because if i unindent on the line i want it of course i get an indentation error. I thought it happened all the time but noticed it worked as normal when not on an indented section. the stack trace is not helpful:

File "C:\Python27\lib\bdb.py", line 49, in trace_dispatch
return self.dispatch_line(frame)
File "C:\Python27\lib\bdb.py", line 68, in dispatch_line
if self.quitting: raise BdbQuit
 BdbQuit

Hmm it seems it isn't related to the OS since I just tried on the vm which is linux and the same thing happened.

here is an example of code:

def singleacc(account):

def singleacc(account):

	try:
		stuff

		pdb.set_trace()

		more stuff

I don't know how I go about troubleshooting? I just tried reinstalling python after also removing the packages and same deal.

I tried with ipdb and it returned a bit more info if it helps any here is the gist

Perhaps it is due to a change made in a python update which didn't exist in the previous version I used before reinstalling windows.
