I just want to kill things in this game forever. The combat is the best I have ever witnessed in an MMO.

General

This game has the most satisfying combat. If you haven't played this game and are reading this I want you to just take my advice and buy the game. I would link you to some videos/gifs and show you what I mean, but you have to experience it.

IF you are playing this game, and do not feel the same way I do then switch classes. Try something else. I have more experience with most MMOs than many people on this planet as I have been playing hardcore raiding since EverQuest and even dabbled in a little UO. Sure there are MUD players like Meridian 59 out there who may have a little more experience than me but the majority of the planet doesn't have the experience that I do.

I could go on and on about my time in EverQuest (99-2008, 2013-2015), Clan Lord, Asheron's Call, Dark Ages of Camelot, Anarchy Online, AC 2 (blah), Neocron, Lineage 2, Maple Story, Star Wars Galaxies, Shadowbane, City of Heroes, EverQuest 2, World of Warcraft (every expansion in a raid guild), Guild Wars, Vindictus, Vanguard etc this list could go on and on but I sound like I am bragging, which I am not. I just am saying that MMO games are my thing for a large portion of my life and I have enough experience to make a very sweeping generalization of the genre.

While playing the CBT 2 for Black Desert Online I have been absolutely blown away by every aspect of this game. The graphics are absolutely incredible and on par with the Witcher 3 and Assassin's Creed Syndicate at 4k and in some ways better. I mean just look at the top of the page, this game is beautiful. I love it and can just walk around in fields for hours and am sad that the beta is coming to an end soon.

My main character right now is a level 25 Witch. I haven't really got a chance to try every class but I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that the Witch is by far one of the most satisfying classes I have ever played in any video game ever. I absolutely am floored at the beauty of the spell animations / particle effects and the way this game looks but the witch feels like a god in combat...

The game introduces you right away to your spells. I walked into a field as my witch and just let down holy hell on the beetles as I learned the controls of the game. It wasn't even a few minutes before I realized I was already level 11 from just decimating the denizens of the forest (and spamming , and R to get through the quest dialogue, sorry no time for reading quests!). The witch has a Staff attack which follows up with a Dagger attack (on a short cooldown) - this combat pretty much kills everything you come against, but forget that. The witch also has a fireball which you can aim any direction, load up, and let loose if you need to change your target or immediately if you just want to fire it. It feels so good and the fireball is beautiful and the damage is outrageous. Monsters just catch on fire, fall over, and die. You kind of laugh as you stroll away at how ridiculously powerful you feel. The sense of power in this game is astronomical and it feels GOOD and the feedback and sound effects are top notch. I can't recommend it enough.

Those are the main attacks that the witch starts out with. The staff attack / dagger combo, and the fireball. Oh wait, you also can quickly dodge in any direction and the ground erupts into explosive dirt as enemies take damage from your dodge attack, wait how cool is that? You also get a teleport later on, so you can just be like - peace meanwhile blasting everything with your secondary attack. Oh, I didn't tell you about how you can move while firing your second attack? It is just a magic missile with no cast time and it is hilarious how useful it is for pulling. I have always equipped a bow for pulling over spells usually, because spells generally have a cast time in most MMOs but I am loving the new age of letting caster classes be able to move while casting some attacks. This instant cast no cooldown secondary that costs almost no mana is wonderful to grab up 10-15 dudes for what I consider the best part of the witch class.

Lightning. It doesn't make sense why does a witch use fire and lightning etc? Then you really think about what a classic witch is and realize that they don't have specific spells, they just do curses and hexes and stuff on people. Maybe back in Salem they had to burn the witch because the witches were going around shooting lightning from their fingertips and killing everyone with chain lightning back in the 1600s. If that is why they were always burning witches at the stake it makes sense since a witch shooting lightning is terrifying. The witch has a skill that is a lightning from the fingers. It feels so good to just vaporize everything and watch their corpses turn black as you are a tesla coil of death. Hey, as good as that feels - how about the skill RESIDUAL LIGHTNING? I put it in all caps because this is a game changer. This is where you do the lightning, everything dies, but if there are say 5-10 more enemies still alive, this is a short 1 second cast time where the game seemingly goes into slow motion as you unleash lightning on the entire screen and everything just falls over and dies, and your cat picks up the loot, meows, and jumps back on your shoulder.

I forgot to mention, besides the fact that the game has the best combat ever imaginable in any MMO with the best sound effects and feeling that your pet JUMPS ON YOUR SHOULDER AND RIDES ON YOUR MOUNT.

I love the witch. I had so much fun with the witch. I decided that the beta ends soon though so maybe I will try something else. I decided to make a Valkyrie. I made a few videos with FRAPS and was going to make a montage of my 30 minutes playing the Valkyrie. This 30 minutes was played with the UI off and walking around the forest round house kicking weasels, uppercutting foxes, and laughing hysterically as more weasels are launched into the sky and my cat meows, picks up the loot, and jumps back onto my shoulder.

Play this game.
