Has anybody else been "outed" as a huge fan in school/work?

In a contemporary literature class I'm taking (english/spanish major here), we're reading The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz. If you haven't read it--I haven't quite finished it but I'm already loving it--I recommend it. It's riddled with LoTR/Tolkien references. Seriously, there's probably a allusion to Sauron, Elvish, Morgoth's Bane, etc, every other page. So in order to fully grasp the comparisons Diaz uses, you've to have read the books. Not many people in my class, it seems, has read them.

Last class my prof asked someone to interpret/explain a reference to Galadriel and, after seeing no other hands go up, offered to explain it. I proceeded to dissect ever other reference that came up in discussion, and by the end of the class, my prof said, "So what about the readers that don't know Spanish (it's a semi-bilingual book) or hasn't read Tolkien? They can either go and read them all or just go ask Mstuartmiles about it."

I was just wondering if anybody else has had a similar experience of being exposed as a huge fan.
