Cricut Cartridge will not link

I have been playing around with my Cricut Explore and have recently purchased my first cartridge. Upon following the directions for linking my cartridge, it says it successfully linked, but does not show under my images and still gives me the option to purchase the cartridge through the website. Thinking maybe it did not link properly, I went back to link it again and it says that it has already been linked. I don't understand why I can't access the files through my design space and it isn't like I bought this cartridge used because it was purchased brand new from an authorized seller and still sealed with the stickers in place.
