MSI GS60 not recognizing when Ethernet cable is plugged in

So this randomly started today, whenever I plug in an Ethernet cable my laptop doesn't recognize that anything is plugged in. After a long time spent trying to reinstall drivers, disable and reenable device, and even leaving my computer off for 30 minutes I have no idea what to do. I have another cable I tried which didn't help. What is weirdest is that when I booted ubuntu off the same computer it also did not recognize my Ethernet cable. I'm left thinking that this must be a hardware issue. Thoughts? Do I send it in for repairs or just buy a USB to Ethernet or what?
