Is this fatlogic? (Alcohol's effect on metabolism)
So my friend is extremely fit and he develops personal training plans for friends on the side (including me). He's the kind of guy who loves helping people get in better shape and everything he's ever told me has helped tremendously.
Recently though he said something that sounded like it could be fatlogic so I wanted to hear your thoughts. He said that when you drink alcohol, your body sees it as the poison it is and completely shuts down your metabolism to focus on getting rid of the alcohol. Therefore, drunk eating is so much worse for you because your body doesn't burn any calories until the alcohol's out of your system and stores everything as fat.
Now if someone overweight had said that to me I would've immediately thought it was fatlogic, but with someone with his level of health-consciousness it's hard to not at least give it a little credence. I'm just wondering if there's any evidence to back this up, or am I good with drinking / drunk-eating as long as I am staying cognizant of CICO while including the alcohol?
