Why did Canadians hate communism during the cold war? Was it because of their proximity/ally status to the US?
As I understand, it was generally understood that Americans were brought to hate the USSR and with it, its communist ideals. But why did people hate communism in Canada?
I am writing about the foundation of provincial health care in Canada and about how there were so many opposed initially on the grounds that it was too socialist/communist of an idea.
