Chaos Renegade from various recasters [Review] [Z,Heyyou,CCON,Miranda,Sylvia] + Tips
Hi all, I post a lot on this sub and I've got quite a bit from the recasters (as well as forgeworld) over the last couple of years. I mainly collect chaos so here's a few reviews and things that are worth keeping in mind when collecting a Renegade army: I only give 10/10 for something that is a flawless copy of GW/FW (inc colour).

Torsos: Torsos in my experience have been acceptable from everyone once paint's on them. The ones here are from CCON (about a year ago) and Heyyou within the last 3 months. Mould lines are minimal on both sets and you can see the detail is on the chains. - 9/10 for both CCON and Heyyou
Ogryn Berserkers I have the Boss Ogryn from Miranda, three from Sylvia and one from Z, Z's is good and is the lighter one in the pictures but came with a few bits broken though they're cheap right now, Sylvias are better than Z's and worth their cost but a few have some mould slip that needs work doing. Miranda's Boss Ogryn was the best in my book (No picture of that one though) Z-7/10, Sylvia 7/10, Miranda 9/10
Heavy Stubber Teams I've had ones from Forgeworld and from Z, Z's are great and once they're painted they look the same next to each other, until they're painted they look shiny as fuck. 8/10
Weapon arms and icons: I've only bought the recast weapon arms from Sylvia and Miranda, I've also had them from Forgeworld and the quality is about the same for the three. This bag is a mixture of those two recasters, some of them need work but most need just a bit of filing to get the sprue off. 7-9/10 Icons have some mould slip which needs addressing (you can see this on both icons)
Enforcers (not pictured) Sylvia's enforcers are a solid 9/10, there's a bit of slip but it's fixable without impacting the look of it when painted.
Tempestus Scions parts Includes enough for 5 legs and torsos, they're a pretty good set and I'm not planning on chucking any of them away, bit of cleanup needed along the flash-y areas but there's no slip on any of them. 8/10
Cadian parts The cadian parts are not as good as their scions equivalent. They have a fair bit of mould slip and out of 5 pairs of legs I'll probably throw 2-3 away, they are $5 though and come with arms and such. 4/10
Legit GW stuff: the chaos cultists from the Dark Vengeance are usually cheap as hell on ebay and most can be cut up for legs and spares; these fit perfectly and the ones that can't really be cut up are all equipped with gas masks and rebreathers etc so fit in without modification. USE THEM!
I've not used them myself but I hear the Khorne guys from the Age of Sigmar box are a really good source of cheap plastic legs.
Other things for renegades: Victoria Miniatures is a good source of legs for renegades and some really good heavy weapons stuff can be bought from Curious Constructs. Secret Weapon Miniatures have some nice gas mask heads too as well as some trench coat legs suitable for enforcers.
Ebay is a good source for heavy weapons, the Vraks renegades book from forgeworld allows them to field loads of heavy weapons, mortars go for so little money on ebay it's funny as do cadian heavy weapons sprues in general
Any questions or anything?
