Did Burr lie about his parents dying wish?

During "Aaron Burr, Sir" Burr says that getting his education was his "parents dying wish before they passed."

Then, during "Wait For It" Burr says when his parents died they, "left no instructions, just a legacy to protect."

These statements cannot both be true. Either they left instructions (to rush his education) or else they didn't. Since one of them was said to Hamilton in public and the other was a private soliloquy, I figure the private one must be the truth and his parents left no instructions.

So why would he lie? Maybe he's just a compulsive liar, and does it on reflex. Says whatever he thinks will score him points with whoever he's talking to at the moment.
