The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep

I began reading 'The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep' by Tenzin Rinpoche a few days ago and I've since had a resurgence of interest in lucid dreaming and dream "practice."

I'll try to sum up the motivation behind this resurgence.

In waking consciousness, I'm largely in the witness perspective and watching thoughts and feelings arise, and notice egoic conditioning identifying with them. However, this is recognized as false, and so I "let go" or otherwise allow for the conditioning or as the book refers to it, "karmic traces," to dissolve.

However, the practice of dream yoga teaches that the conditioning is present during dreaming, and without the perspective of witness consciousness to effectively observe and let go of the karmic traces, the karmic traces are actually strengthened and allowed to perpetuate.

Where I'm at on the journey, all of waking consciousness is essentially seeing what is true about my experience and dissolving egoic movements/realizing oneness. But since 1/3 of consciousness takes place during/sleep, it seems like if aligning with truth is the only "goal," then allowing myself to be caught up in the dream for 1/3 of life is not aligned with that goal.

Do any or have any of you practiced during dreaming/sleep? If you have, what's been your experience? Any thoughts on using lucid dream as a way to merge with the absolute?

Hope you're all having a wonderful day!
