Integrative Neurosciences and Research Opportunities

I am currently a freshman thinking of transferring for the fall of 2016 and I am really interested in the Neurosciences major. I was just wondering how difficult it would be for an incoming sophomore to get involved in research. I have not had any previous research experience but would love to get involved in either neuroscience or bio research. Also, what is the difference between the neuroscience major and the bio major, I've been reading that they are very similar.
