New to misophonia--can someone explain a little?
I heard of this disorder not even five minutes ago in a random youtube video and I was like...wow that's me. I believe I have mild misophonia, which I'm assuming it can be mild. I don't get anxiety by certain noises usually, unless it I'm trying to study. I'm mostly slightly irritated or frustrated at certain noises.
I used to have just three dogs but recently moved in with other relatives, so we have a total of five dogs. I'm glad that they bark to ward off any potential threatening people (hope that never has to be the case), but they will bark at the most minor provocations. I love them to death but I just want to scream at them sometimes for being so ridiculous.
Another thing that always annoyed me was this friend I used to have. I don't really feel bad about saying this because she was an awful friend, but she had the most horrendous singing voice. She wasn't tone death but her singing voice was soo annoying and god awful. We carpooled to class at one point in time and not only could I not stand her music, but the way she would sing to every. fucking. song. She elongated the end of every phrase when it wasn't necessary. When we took my car, I would try to play music she wouldn't know. It pissed me off even MORE that she tried to guess the words and hum along! I felt like she was ruining my enjoyment of the song. I just wanted to listen to the song. She saw me not singing as I sign that I wasn't enthusiastic and didn't enjoy it. I don't know, what do you guys think of that? I saw what she meant but now I'm thoroughly pissed whenever someone tries to sing along to songs. Also the choir kids at my high school would idly sing in class, mainly to show off. I hated that, too.
Also I'm really annoyed by people's teeth scraping against forks and spoons. It makes me cringe because I hate the feeling of it whenever I do it by accident. Sometimes when people burp I'm annoyed, but mainly because I think it's a little rude. It doesn't always bother be but I feel like giving the death glare half the time.
I used to feel like a bitch by these minor irritations, and especially with my singing friend who was a huge irritation. So...am I not a bitch now? lol. Any thoughts appreciated
