Is there a name for non-evil shadow people?

Ever since I was younger, I've been seeing shadowy, humanoid creatures from time-to-time. They have never tried to hurt me, and actually offer me a sense of comfort. Once, when I was a kid, I mistook one for my grandmother, and felt an urge to hug them, though my arms passed right through. After doing some research, I have realized that they are likely shadow people. I understand that, along with the benevolent creatures that I have encountered, there are some less-than friendly creatures, such as demons. What I was wondering is, is there a name for the shadow people who are there to help and comfort you? I've already taken to referring to them as "The Protectors" but I was wondering if they already had a name. I doesn't seem fair that they would sole be lumped in with demons. After all, they're good and kind.
