What's the best value? $320 R9 390 or GTX970, or $440 GTX980?

My purpose - new gaming PC, 1440p.

Criteria:

1. Best value

2. Best future proofing

Easy to find GTX970 or an R9390 for $320. Saw this GTX 980 on Amazon though and now I'm wondering if it's the better buy.
