Buildings with rent-stabilized/controlled tenants?
Anyone have experience "evicting" (technically--not evicting, just not renewing the lease) a rent-stabilized/controlled tenant? Apparently, you don't have to renew the lease for a rent-controlled tenant lease, if the apartment will be used for the owner's personal use or for a relative. However, people who have invested in rent-stabilized buildings or own buildings with rent-controlled units are freaking out like there's no way to get rid of the existing tenant. http://www.nyshcr.org/rent/factsheets/orafac10.pdf
