Best Episode?!? These are my 5 candidates for that title...I seriously can't decide
I am a long time fan of the office, I would not be able to count how many times I have re-watched the office. It is an amazing show, with so many great moments, so please help me decide on the best episode. If you haven't guessed it, major spoilers...Also this is gonna be quite long, so be ready.
I have five candidates which are Season 6 Episode 5, Niagara part 2. Season 7 Episode 21, Michael's Last Dundies. Season 9 Episode 23, Finale. Season 4 Episode 5, Local Ad. Finally Season 5 Episode 2, Weight Loss Part 2. These are my five candidates while I still think there are many other amazing episodes, these 5 I think best represent the show, have the most significant moments or just beyond awesome episodes.
First of all, Niagara, I mean what can I even say then someone is always cutting an onion near me. This episode is just so amazing and so beautiful. Jim being the classic head over heels in love, and his continued dedication to Pam. When he says, "The boat was actually Plan C, the church was Plan B, and Plan A was marrying her a long, long time ago. Pretty much the day I met her." is just absolutely spectacular. This episode has a strong potential for the best episode as it has the marriage, the boat, classic Michael Scott, romantic Jim and well just everything. It has just about everything and is even better since it was not even a season finale. Niagara part one is also a great episode. Just what a magical episode.
Second, Michael's Last Dundies well is another great moment. It is hard to choice between this and Goodbye Michael. If you don't mind I will kinda combine these two but focus on Michael's Last Dundies. The Dundies are such a special moment in the series. One of my favorite lines, among thousands lol, is when Michael is called an idiot by the former congressman in Shareholder's Meeting, he says, "Im not a moron...I have personally won over 17 Dundee awards." So yeah the dundies are a very special runny joke in the series and the last one is symbolic of Michael Scott. The finale scene in the episode with rendition of Seasons Of Love is spectacular. Don't get me wrong the 9 million hours is way off, he worked there for about 17-18 years at the most and 9 million hours is over 20 years, but it is still very special moment. The disgruntled Dwight, sadden Michael, and goofy Jim, just everyone is always just being themselves. It is unbelievably an amazing episode.
Michael's Goodbye, is also a great episode and deserves the recognition but I find the Dundies are more symbolic of the series.
Okay we hit, what is probably the front runner. People can say whatever they want to about the finale season or I guess everything after Michael leaves. For me at least, it is all worth it since it builds up to this spectacular episode. I don't know where to start...but I guess the beginning of the episode. With Dwight running the office, without an antique gun, is well showing the harmony in the office is great. Dwight's use of cakes to fire people is honestly so freaking funny to me, if I ever have to fire someone for non-disciplinary reasons in my life, I would like to do that too. Dwight truly does love the office, and even owns the building but he seems truly happy. Lets go next to the bachelor party/wedding. Both amazing parts of the episode...Jim doing all those good "pranks". For me this shows that yes, Jim's pranks were hilarious, and through out the years they have a kinda "rivalry" but they are truly friends. When Dwight quits very briefly to hide his relationship with Angela, he hugs Jim, they might not get along but they are close. Well yes the party is quite funny and well shows the group dynamic of the guys. The wedding now is just so great, and at the end with bring your hay to the reception, too funny. Michael's final use of, "That's what she said", and coming back. He bought two phones because he has too many photos, just classic Michael. Honestly the finale was just an amazing episode. There is honestly too much to cover in a post so I'll be glad to talk more about it in the comments. I'll just say the panel with Erin's parents, and Creed playing guitar, just amazing. I think at moments we forget that being filmed is part of the show and this episode kinda makes you sober up to the fact that it is just an office, being filmed. This episode has a strong lead for being the best, just only have to keep in mind it was the finale and had quite a build up.
Those 3 which is kinda more like 5 episodes are well clearly amazing but here are two which may be a little more underrated. The local Ad in my view has a chance to be the best episode because it may just represent The Office perfectly. You have three components to this episode. Michael's command and devotion to filming and creating movies. There is the whole situation with a depressed Dwight, and well Andy's lack of awareness. Andy's telling Dwight of Angela saying, "Oh D!" is kinda a turning point for him. This is the precursor to them getting back together and well we all know they end up in the end together. Two people who are strangely made for each other. I think as much you can say the show is about Michael or Jim and Pam, Dwight is always right there too and this is a great moment for the downtrodden Dwight. The end of this episode where they are all at Poor Richards is also a motif I think. Happens when the documentary airs. Michael says in an episode I forget which one, "They say that on your deathbed you never wish you spent more time at the office. But I will." This episode is a representation of this to me, where The Office is the focus of the Episode, the people, the charm and the spirit of the show.
Finally Weight Loss Part 2, this is a great episode, and well is just great. Not only do we get to met Michael Klump, and well Michael's brilliant decision to buy his Sumo Suit instead of renting. There is the whole thing with Michael and Holly, the buying of the Counting Crow Tickets. Michael should have taken her to the concert but he was living in the moment, didn't have that foresight. Well do I have to mention the rest of the episode because we all know the greatest moment of this episode. At the gas station halfway between NewYork and Scranton. Pam can claim it was a further drive for her. That proposal is quite special and so romantic. Jim always has it in him to surprise her, whether it is with a ring, a house, a secret job(not a good surprise) or with a diamond bracelet. Just a testament to The Office and the love story.
If I didn't lose you within that, please help me decide. I think these episodes are kinda all amazing and picking the best is really tough.
