South Asian/Desi Ladies, I need your help. I need to find a cream/off-white salwar suit for a gala. I also want to know how to determine the suitability of a suit to an event (e.g., suit for a wedding versus a party).
I have a gala I am going to, and I am well-acquainted with Desi/South Asian wear, but normally I have a Desi friend helping me shop. What I don't understand is how do I tell the difference between what salwar suit is appropriate for a wedding, versus a party, versus a holiday outing, etc. My Desi friend says it's typically determined by the fabric and the "kam" (work, literally, but I'm assuming embroidery and detailing), but I still feel lost.
I typically prefer anarkali suits, because I love how they look. I do not want my stomach showing, so sarees and (most) lehengas are out. Don't like patiala; churidar are okay, but I like the wide pant legs look (palazzo?). Kameez can be in the anarkali style or even a kurti.
Desired price range is USD$0-$200, but can be expanded upon. Semi-stitching or readymade fine.
