[Build Help] Did I just mess up my mobo?

First build, and I think that I'm ok still but hoping to get some confirmation. When installing my cpu cooler (corsair 110i), I found that the mounting holes for the cpu holder had a somewhat stretchy black material behind them. The cooler instructions say that the cooler needs a brace behind the mobo, and so I punctured through the back of the cpu cooler mounting holes to attach this mounting bracket. Just after puncturing through it, I realized this may have been a mistake... I read up online and found that the 2011-3 socket doesn't need a rear bracket for support. So basically I punctured through some stretchy black stuff behind the mounting holes for no reason. Will this cause any issues? Any help is appreciated!
