Bosch iridium spark plugs

I just got bosch iridium spark plugs and checked the gap. It was at.044 out of box truck specs say .052 to .056 when setting the gap the thin wire end snapped off. Is it still usable if gapped down the the right size and would i have to do that to the other 5.
