Going through a period of difficulty with resulting irritability/anxiety: Should I CUT OUT all stimulants (coffee)?

To resume, I am going through a great period of difficulty. I think as side effects I'm experiencing irritability, depression, etc.

During this time, I have become quite addicted to coffee/stimulants. I basically almost MENTALLY cannot go through a day without it.

My question is this: Does coffee/stims help coping in trouble times, or should it be cut out to improve response to problems? The reason is for me, cutting out stims is difficult, so I want to make sure there is a good reason for it.

Plenty of people say that "Coffee is good for you, etc etc" but I am somehow convinced its not as good as they say.

Your thoughts?
