In M-L Theory, How Does the State Dissolve After Socialism Is Established?

In Marxist-Leninist theory, as I understand it, after socialism is completely established and capitalism completely abolished, the state will whither away and we will become communist. We will have transitioned from a society of "From each according to ability, to each according to contribution" to one of "From each according to ability, to each according to need." A truly classless, stateless and moneyless society.

In the words of Vladimir Lenin, "Under socialism all will govern in turn and will soon become accustomed to no one governing."

How does this happen? Does a second revolution occur; one which, instead of overthrowing a bourgeois state, overthrows the concept of statehood altogether?

Does the state slowly recede with time? How? What prevents the leaders of the state from establishing permanent positions of power for themselves?

Will all the states of the world recede/be abolished at the same time? Will there still be separate states, each receding at their own pace (sort of like the theory of "socialism in one country" but applied to the concept of stateless communism)? Or will they first have to merge into one global state before they can recede/be abolished?
