Do you think globally popular services such as facebook, twitter, tinder etc would have been as successful if they were started outside of the U.S in countries not typically associated with Startups?

I know that building a service in the main global techhubs such as the U.S and London improves chances of success by virtue of access to funding, expertise etc.

But assuming that the above mentioned social networks had had the same expertise and financial backing, were built in the same way, same UX and features, but were started somewhere such as New Zealand or South Africa, do you think they still would still have gotten the same kind of global traction as they did?
