Is It Still Possible To Get Preston's Perk?

So, Preston is still a little sore that I blew The Institute to hell and didn't issue the evacuation order. I was doing a Brotherhood playthrough so I felt it seemed appropriate. Is it still possible to get his perk if I just mod weapons with him around in the settlement? Will he still admire than become idolized, or is he giving me the finger and still making me do his bitch work?
