Regarding that Neutral Flag league/SOCLTP-sytle tournament post I made yesterday...
I have an idea. Let me know any flaws that could arise from said idea. This idea may be hard for me to explain especially since I was just at the bar watching the Terps underperform again...so bear with me. For now, I will refer to it as NFC
My idea is a points based individual ladder ranking where the points are gained by participating and excelling in NF tournaments.
Every tournament will be set up similar to a SOCL/CLTP-style tournament with individuals signing up and choosing whether or not they would like to captain a team. Teams are then drafted. Players will gain points from playing, being a captain, and making it to the championship. Points would go as follows:
1 Point - Participating in any NFC tournament
1 Point - Captaining a team in any NFC tournament
5 Points - Finishing 2nd place in a NFC tournament
10 Points - Finishing 1st place in a NFC tournament.
Hopefully the points for participating and captaining will help keep players interested and coming back and will add motivation to be a captain.
After a single tournament whoever captained the winning team would be in 1st place (12 total points, 1 for participating, 1 for captaining, and 10 for 1st place) with the 3 players that he drafted tied for 2nd (11 total points, 1 for participating, 10 for 1st place). Everyone who participated that wasn't on a 1st or 2nd place team would be tied for last place with 1 point except for those teams' captains who would have 1 extra point (but hey, atleast you're on the board at this point, thanks for participating!)
Does my explanation make any sense? It makes sense to me, but that's because I came up with it, ya know?
I think that instead of just having NF tournaments that might fizz out after a few attempts, the ladder system might keep people interested and coming back. The points could reset every few months and a new "season" would begin.
I'm still brainstorming the idea, I definitely want to make something happen even if it's just a weekly tournament. But any feedback on this whether it's positive or negative would be cool.
