What distortion pedal would sound good with a Phase 90?

I just got a phase 90 and love it. I'm looking for a distortion pedal that would complement it for rhythm playing though. I have many fuzz pedals that sound great for lead playing, but are too much for rhythm playing. I'm using a strat into a deluxe reverb. I'm going for a RHCP or Van Halen kind of vibe. Thanks!
