[SPOILERS][Movie: Deadpool][Discussion] Possible Hint at Flash Thompson and Wade Wilson Connection?
Greetings everyone, I finally watched Deadpool yesterday, and I that there was what appeared to be a legless man with an U.S.M.C. tattoo on his knuckles. The man was offered an opportunity by the Weapon X recruiter.
Now I don't know exactly what is canon in the Deadpool movie universe, but I am about to give my best speculations based off of what I can recall from the movie. Please correct me, and help me figure out if this is even plausible.
- The program Wilson went through is a branched off Weapon X program.
- Wilson was in the 'Special Forces,' but the particular branch he was in is never mentioned.
- In the comics, Thompson served in the Army, but there were many times where he was referred to as a Marine, and he wore USMC stamped apparel. Maybe the writers should have a word about that with someone in the fleet.
- Flash Thompson was in the special forces.
- Flash Thompson underwent a similar Weapon X branch-off program to become Agent Venom.
In the film, the man with the USMC tattoo is laying down on a mattress as he reaches out for the recruiter's card. If my assumption that the man laying down is Flash Thompson, then I assume that in the Deadpool movie canon, Thompson's background is solidified into being a Marine for the sake of consistency. This could hint at Wilson's background in the military.
In the comics, Flash Thompson jumped at the opportunity to join with the venom symbiote. Thompson joined for a similar reason Wilson did.
Although this could be a cameo or tribute to many of the characters that underwent similar treatment as Wilson, I think it would make sense to introduce another anti-hero/dark hero character in the Deadpool movie canon.
Let me know what ya'll think.
