Anyone else been having issues with Google Hangouts lately?

So basically my gf and I typically use Google hangouts as a means of communicating with eachother. Sending text messages works fine, no issues there. However when we do voice calls we frequently have a situation where when one of us picks up, it registers us as being in the call however we cannot hear eachother. I've tried across 6 different devices (desktop PC, Surface Pro, current phone, old phone, tablet and old tablet) and the issue is still there. My gf has also tried with her laptop and her phone and both have this issue. Skype always works fine.

So yeah basically, anyone else been experiencing similar issues?
