Any advice for landing smaller skill shots?

Mainly Ullr I'm talking about. I can land He Bo's Waterspout pretty easily, and I'm usually pretty lucky with Chronos's Time Rift. I can never hit an Ullr axe or Hail of Arrows unless I get lucky. I convinced myself that with enough play and experience, learning to land his abilities would come naturally, but I'm almost rank VII with Ullr and it hasn't gotten any easier. Ullr's axe throw is such a slow moving projectile with a tiny width. But when I watch Ullr players on streams and in my games, they seem to land their combo no problem. Should I switch some targeting options in my settings, if that makes a difference in landing abilities? Or will I just always suck.
