Finder “Show Icon Preview” for certain filetypes?

I just switched to Mac and I'm trying to be as positive and open-minded as possible.

"Show icon preview" is enabled, but I'm having a hard time organizing my files.. especially because I can see pages/previews in files instead an icon that resembles what the file is.

I need a way to only show icon preview for images (.png, .gif, .jpg, etc) and Microsoft Office files (word, excel, ppt), is this possible? Please please please tell me it is.

Thanks so much.
