Designing a simple "magic pitcher" experiment. Need some help.
I'd like to use two acid-base indicators to carry out a magic-pitcher experiment in a single beaker, and 5 steps.
The 5-steps I have are:
- Fill a beaker with an acid
2) Add 1st acidic indicator. Color change
3) Add some base. Turn it back to clear
-
Add Phenolphthalein. Turn it to fuschia.
-
Add more base. Turn it back to clear.
In general, I'm finding it difficult to find an acid-base indicator that turns color, but turns back to colorless with increasing pH. I've looked at a lot of acid-indicators, but from my readings, haven't found one that changes back to clear.
Does one exist?
