Stretching or shrinking an image by a logarithmic function instead of by percentage.

Is there any way to stretch or shrink an image using a logarithmic function, so edges stretch/shrink faster/slower in proportion to each other instead of on a percentage base? A bit like the spherize function, however I only want it to stretch in one direction and not have the edges stretch towards the middle or edges
