Starkville as a college town?

I have recently decided that I am going to attend MSstate based off of campus feel and scholarship monies, but I don't know too much about the surrounding area. I'm from Atlanta and haven't really lived in a rural(ish?) area in my life. What's there to do? What's the food scene like? Music scene? Etc... Thanks.
