A man who looked like a younger version of my grandfather offered to pay for my prescriptions for my severe ear infection after I burst into tears at the pharmacy over not being able to afford my medicine Thank you so much kind stranger.
I got diagnosed with a severe ear infection at urgent care when I woke up with random spasms of pain coming from my ears. They gave me a prescription and I went on my way to the pharmacy. I didn't have a lot of money on me and I was afraid of expensive prescriptions.
I just started a new job and recovered from a long bout of depression. I also have untreated autism & anxiety disorder so I cannot handle stress very well. Needless to say, I'm barely getting back on my feet and I didn't need to run into another financial stoop.
When the price for prescription painkillers & 2 vital antibiotics came through($70), I immediately started bawling out of nowhere. I only had 40 on me and the doctor had said I absolutely needed to take my antibiotics or I had a risk of ear damage. The pharmacy tech looked helpless and I apologized for my outburst. I explained my situation and told him I didn't know what to do. This was all the cash I had, I started a new job. I bore my soul to this stranger and he stuttered, apologizing. I told him it wasn't his fault, people can't help getting sick sometimes.
A man who just picked his own prescription asked me what was wrong and the technician told him that I couldn't afford my meds. He asked for the price and offered his cash. I said he didn't have to do that over and over but he insisted. He said he used to be in my position and that he had been blessed by god with good things. He said he didn't mind helping out people once in a while. I asked him if he was sure and I sobbed while he technician took his money and rang him up.
He gave me my bag and said to me to take care of myself. I thanked him over and over and I cried in my car on the way home. I don't have his info or number. But I hope someday I can pay him back. I'm forever touched. I don't believe in any religion or deity but I do feel lucky to have run into such a kind person today
