mention fraternity in cover letter?
Applying for host/server jobs with no relevant experience. I was in a fraternity in school so I figure maybe I'll write something like "being a part of x fraternity has taught me how to be a team player and the ability to work with people" instead of an empty claim like "I am a team player and can work with people". The downside to that is the negative stereotypes associated with fraternities. But shouldn't you be polarizing when it comes to finding jobs? Better to have a 1/10 or 2/10 like you enough to give you an interview and 5/10 dislike you for being in a fraternity than 10/10 not feeling strongly about you right?
