Tithe... Opinions?
Hi everyone, new to this subreddit. Over the past year or so I've started going to church and started my journey to finding my relationship with god. It's been great and I love listening to my local pastors. But today we touched on a new subject and I'm looking for input.
The past few weeks the head pastor has been doing talks about money and it's roll in your life. He spoke a lot of tithe and how crucial it is in your relationship with god. I'm so unsure about it as I don't exactly have 10% of my paycheck laying around. A few people did give testimonies about how paying tithe changed their lives, and the pastor stressed that he's not talking about this because the church needs money (it doesn't, it's already a very successful church), but because he doesn't want anyone to miss out on their relationship with God because they can't part with their money.
Just curious on people's opinions or personal testimonies of how paying tithe has helped them. Hopefully this is an okay thing to post here, not sure where else to go. My fiancé and I are open to anything and really just on the fence about the money thing.
