[Lore] Giant Lord from the Trailer

Was watching the trailer/opening cinematic for the first time (a bit late, I know) and noticed the Giant Lord pictured is missing his arm.

Curious if its tied to Dark Souls 2 as the Last Giant (the Giant Lord from the Ashen Mist past) rips off his arm during the fight with the player.

EDIT 2: I'd like to remind people that downvotes are not supposed to be used against theories that differ from your own. While the points don't matter, the negative karma in a sub I just joined locks me from replying to you for up to 8 minutes at a time. So if you actually want a discussion rather than shouting "you're wrong" and just walking away, I suggest following actual reddiquette.
