The thing that annoys me most about Deeprealms is their untapped potential.
Just think about how interesting they can be for a fantasy setting.
The world as you know it is a sphere with a radius of about 2 miles. There is nothing beyond it - the rest is just empty space. There are thousands of these tiny islands , all connected to one plane. Within this plane time moves extremely fast - about 1500x as fast. As residents of these "deeprealms" emerge , they conquer and expand their civilization.
To defend , you must yourself be inside that plane , sacrificing any chance of returning to what you know as home. You fight alongside your Great Grandson , barely 4 months younger than you. Wars never end, as diminishing the supplys are impossible. Technology no longer progresses , but rather flashes in sudden bursts. Rest inside the plane is impossible , for to lapse for a second is let the enemy prepare for hours.
