Researching under Professor
Hello,
I am currently a freshman in an undergraduate business school. It is a top program and I was lucky enough to get a research position. Now, I have not done any type of research in college. I have only talked to the professor on the phone and my initial impressions are as follows:
- The professor is not going to hold your hand through the process.
- Hesitant to meet face to face.
- There are other students but I have not gotten in contact with them yet. I don't know when exactly I will meet them but it seems like I'm on my own for now.
I know in high school, researching meant just going online and finding information but in college are there any particular websites/sources that will enable me to investigate my topic. The topic is something related to employment/economy. (Keeping it non-specific for privacy reasons)
After I have done my research, how should I present it to the professor? An essay response, presentation, etc.
Thanks for all the help. I am excited for this project but as you can see I need a basic foundation on how to proceed.
