Hello everyone!
Well hi! I figured that it would be great to actively participate in this fantastic community instead of just spectating on the side. So about me:
I started fairly lazy Keto on Feb 1st this year, after hitting a frustrating stall in my weight loss. At my highest weight, I was 250lbs, miserable, exhausted, and suffering a mental "fog" all the time. I went through a very bad breakup and, to quote FG "I just started running." When I started, I was hitting 2.5 miles in a half hour, eating next to nothing, and miserable. All that said, I was desperately trying to get over "the one."
Fast forward a year and I was down to 185lbs, up to 4 miles/hour/day, and eating food! I was happy, healthy, at a job I loved and life was good. However, the dream job cut everyone at the company in a mass layoff event, and I got depressed and lazy. I kept up the running and the eating, but my weight loss slowed significantly as I started eating whatever I felt like (a lot of donuts and bagels).
Again, fast forward to the start of this year. I started slowly upping my mileage and speed to 6 miles an hour 6 days a week. I also started doing weight training 5 days a week and yoga once a week. This started in January and I felt fantastic! I have never been so happy and confident and motivated every day, but again the weight loss was stalled. After 3 weeks parked at 178lbs, I started this wonderful journey of cheese and meat and glory.
Now, 3 weeks in, I am in love with this new lifestyle. I've been running through my introduction period (which was awful, I do not recommend maintaining your run distance or time as you try to adjust to your new energy levels), have upped myself to 6.5 miles an hour, 6 days a week, and today hit my personal best of 7 miles in an hour! I am more energetic, my skin is clearing up, and the mental fog is totally gone.
Most importantly, I love the sense of control this diet gives me over my life. I make all my meals in one massive meal prep session on Sundays, and it is so simple to live this diet only eating the meals I've pre-prepared (and a few Quest bars sprinkled throughout the week). And while the scale has only moved a little, I am seeing noticeable differences in myself. I can see my muscles now, and my arms are actually starting to show the work I've been putting in!
I'm really excited to keep seeing results and keep up with this fantastic change. I don't have many friends IRL, and I definitely do not have the support of the few that I do (a lot of "are you insane? Bacon every day?) so I'm also hoping to get a little more involved in the r/xxketo world!
