Does anyone here play without the community balance patch?

I just realized that it mainly prevents snowballing, which has basically been my strategy in every Civ game I've ever played. I like a lot of the changes it makes, but the nerf to science is really tragic to me. I don't know whether to scratch it or not.

It makes no sense to tie science output to population, just look at India.
