[Help] - Adriatic Galleys events firing without any Adriatic Galleys

I'm playing the 769 start date as the Doge of Venice. Venice is still a duchy-level title (haven't made it a Kingdom yet). I keep getting events with the Adriatic Galleys. The commander keeps refusing to party with me, and once he killed one of my sons. When I go to the mercenary tab, I don't see the Adriatic Galleys there. I only see them when these events pop up, and it only makes bad things happen. Is there a way I can try to grant them land to vassalize them, or hire them, or SOMETHING?
