furnald - the hufflepuff of freshman dorms?

my spiel is basically that i want access to a proper kitchen (i'm no jonah reider but i cook ok), so i'm leaning towards furnald over john jay (plus furnald has ac 💯)

furnald is the bum of basically every joke here, but i want to ask anyway - is it really so awful? are carman and john jay really the only two good options? or is this really just stereotypes and hype?
