Long periods on mini pill

Have been taking mini pill for just over a year and typically have longer periods..roughly 10 days. Will sometimes have a day or two of no bleeding and then bleeding will start again. This has always happened when I take this pill (never happens when I'm off the pill) just wondered if anyone else experiences/experienced this??
