Anyone studied Robert M. Pirsig's 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance'?

Has anyone read Robert M. Pirsig's 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' and if so what are your thoughts/understandings on his Metaphysics of Quality/ his idea of 'Phaedrus's knife' or the divide between 'Romantic' and 'Classical' outlooks on life? I recently finished the book and I'm very interested in the ideas held within, I'd love to know what some more studied minds than mine have taken away from it!
