Row major address calcuation

I am working with multidimensional arrays in Java and have correctly managed to implement the formula provided here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Row-major_order#Address_calculation_in_general) although if I'm perfectly honest I don't truely understand what is going on.

Does anyone have any material, video or otherwise, that explains this topic?
