[ROLEPLAY] The Balkan Problem

ROLEPLAY

[M] Naturally this conversation and the forthcoming events will remain secret [/M].

The Kaiser sat in his chair, staring at his table-map of Europe

"The Balkan problem is growing" said Gottlieb Graf von Haeseler, a Generalfeldmarschall.

"I know. And I'm not sure where I stand anymore" replied the Kaiser.

Von Haeseler hesitated, "You just sold ships and equipment to the Ottomans. That's a pretty solid stance."

"Yes, but with the Ottomans making unsound decisions like trading Libya for Crete, one must wonder how long they expect to hold on without extensive, and expensive external support."

"Indeed, that trade came out of nowhere. And it seems the Ottomans were trying to improve Anglo-Otto relations."

"Which means that maybe the Turks can't be trusted."

Von Haeseler hesitated again. "So what do you think?"

"The Bulgarians want Turkish land, the Greeks want Turkish land. The Turks want European land. Everyone wants everyone's heads. The Bulgarians seem the most ready for war, and are actively mobilizing. They call for referendum on Macedonia, but undoubtedly plan for invasion no matter what the referendum calls for."

"So we support the Bulgarians?"

"Contact Ferdinand. We must speak at once. Needless to say, nobody hears of this."

"And how will the rest of the world see this?"

"The only way they can. Increase naval production as well. We're closing the gap with Britain."

"I'll contact the Admiralty Staff right away."

The Kaiser sat up in his chair and stared at the Balkans

"Let us hope that Ferdinand intends to be friends." the Kaiser muttered to himself.
