has anyone else experienced this?

I absolutely hate the way career mode is neglected and recycled every single year but I started a career mode as Blackburn rovers and took them to the premier league. every match i played felt fun and fast paced even when i lost games. time went on and i sorta gave up and tried a new career mode with nice on the same difficulty. made good signings and i have played the first 10 games of the season. however every game i play (i have won all but 1) felt like i was grinding the same boring long drawn out game. every match my players felt slow and even my good & fast players like ben arfa and sisto felt like they couldn't do anything at all. i would like to point out i don't believe this is scripting but there is definitely something different.

in my blackburn save i had a team that was a mixture of pacey and slow players (both strikers were under 80 pace) but i felt like i could do anything with them. they could hold people off the ball and effectively dribble around players.

in my Nice save i had a team that was on paper equally as good as my blackburn save. however my fullbacks can't run and dribble without getting tackled and my strikers Germain and plea couldn't hold onto the ball. everyone in my team would easliy get pressured and lose the ball.

i get that it could just be that my blackburn team better suited my playstyle but why on earth are all my players such wimps on the ball.

has anyone experienced this kind of gameplay where none of your players can do the basics of playing football?
